Health & Fitness FAQS

GYM

How old do I need to be to use the gym?

Youth Membership starts from 14 years old (14-15 year olds MUST have compulsory fitness consultation prior to starting and some weight restrictions apply).

For 12-15 year olds we also run casual supervised Teen Gym sessions Monday to Friday 3.30-5.30pm. Participants MUST have a compulsory fitness consultation prior to starting. We also offer term-based fitness programs that cater for 8-11 year olds, called K-Fit

I have never attended a gym before, how will I know how to use the equipment and achieve the results that I want?

Members have access to a free fitness consultation, by a fully qualified gym instructor. They will review your fitness aims and goals and create an exercise program accordingly. In addition, they will ensure you are confident to use our free weights and exercise equipment. This induction is a part of your membership and you are able to review your program with a trainer every 8 to 12 weeks. This ensures you are constantly being challenged and gaining results.

Casual users can have a consultation and individual program written for an extra cost.

GROUP FITNESS

How old do I have to be to take part in the fitness classes?

Minimum age for group fitness is 14 years old, with the exception of Body Pump classes which is only for 16 year olds and over, due to weights being used.

Active Seniors classes are specifically for older adults 60yrs +. If you are wishing to take part in these classes for rehabilitation or other reasons, please contact the centre prior to the class to discuss your situation.

Yes. All group fitness classes can be paid for on a casual basis, concession rates do apply. A valid seniors card must be presented for access to the Active Seniors classes as these are for 60 years and over. There is also the option for multi visit passes for group fitness classes.

Do I have to book the classes ahead of the day?

Aqua and Deep Water Running classes are pre-booked. This can be done 74hrs in advance of the class time through the MyActive Portal or by phone on 9559 7111.

All other classes are available on a first-in first-served basis (tickets can be collected up to 2 hours before the class start time). If maximum participant  number is reached you may be declined entry to a class.

What if I arrive late?

There is a 5 minute cut off after the start time of class, for health & safety reasons. With the exception of Active 45 classes which are cut off at exact start time.
