Health & Fitness FAQS

How old do I need to be to use the gym?

Youth Memberships start from 14 years old (14-15 year olds must follow tailored gym program and some weight restrictions apply).

We also run supervised, term-based youth fitness programs that cater for 8-14 year olds.

Our Active Seniors programs are for participants 60 years and over with a valid seniors card to attend.

I have never attended a gym before, how will I know how to use the equipment and achieve the results that I want?

As a new member you will be inducted into our gym by a fully qualified fitness professional. They will review your fitness aims and goals and create an exercise program accordingly. In addition, they will ensure you are confident to use our free weights and exercise equipment. This induction is a part of your membership and you are able to review your program with a trainer every 8 to 12 weeks. This ensures you are constantly being challenged and gaining results.

How old do I have to be to take part in the fitness classes?

Members can participate in all classes, with the exception of Teens aged under 16 who are not able to take part in Body Pump due to resistance weights used in the class. We also have Active Seniors classes and programs that are specifically run for older adults 60yrs+ and over. If you are wishing to take part in these classes for rehabilitation or other reasons, please contact the centre prior to the class to discuss options.

Can I just attend your group fitness classes casually?

Yes you can. All group fitness classes can be paid for on a casual basis, concession rates do apply. There is also the option for visit passes for these classes.

Do I have to book the classes ahead of the day?

Yes. Bookings are available on a first-in-first-served basis, 4 days in advance of the booking time for members & 3 days in advance for visit passes/casuals. Off-peak membership conditions still apply. Bookings can be made through the MyActive Portal or by phone on 9559 7111.

What if I arrive late?

You are able to check in to a class up to 5 minutes after the start time. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, it is unsafe for us to allow you to participate after this time.

Where do I find a copy of your group fitness timetable?

You can locate the class timetable here. Alternatively you can call the centre or drop in to pick one up.
